Celtic FC manager Neil Lennon has been on the hunt for a new central midfielder and chances are that he will move for West Brom man Rekeem Harper.

The West Brom youngster has come up through the ranks at the club and during the 2018-19 season, the 19-year-old made some impressive performances for the Championship side.

Last campaign Harper went on to play 30 games across all competitions for West Brom – scoring 3 goals. And reports have suggested that Neil Lennon wants to bring him to Celtic.

But according to James Morrison, the player should ditch a move to Celtic and stay back at West Brom for one more year.

“In midfield next season there’s only Rak, Sam Field, Jake Livermore and Chris Brunt. He’s got a chance to play,” Morrison said.

“Is he guaranteed that at Celtic? He’s not. And that’s a tough place to play too.”

Morrison is right with his analysis since Celtic currently have a number of top quality midfielders amongst their ranks which means Rekeem Harper will have fight for his place in the first XI.

But if the youngster chooses to stay with West Brom then he is more or less a guaranteed starter.

The Baggies are very much aware of the threat that Celtic possess in the transfer market and hence the Hawthorns outfit has chosen to offer Harper a new deal at the club.

The midfielder though has rejected the initial offer but West Brom are confident that the youngster will put pen on paper to a new deal.

Celtic though aren’t the only club interested in signing Rekeem Harper as reports suggest that the likes of Norwich and Tottenham Hotspur have also kept tabs on the player and might move for him sometime next month.
