Sheffield United midfielder John Fleck could be on his way to the Premier League – if reports to be believed.
The 27-year-old started his career at Rangers and after moving through up through the ranks the Glasgow born midfielder joined Coventry in 2012.
After a four year stint with Coventry, Fleck joined Sheffield United and midfielder has been a mainstay at the club ever since.
John Fleck was named the player of the season last year and this campaign he has already made 28 appearances for the Championship side.
Now reports are claiming that West Ham United have grown a liking towards him and the London based club have held talks with Sheffield over a possible £4m deal.
The Hammers have only signed Samir Nasri this month and if they manage to sign John Fleck then Pellegrini would surely have done some decent business at the start of the year.
John Fleck has been churning out tremendous performances for the Championship side this season and as per TransferMarkt, he is valued at £1.35m.
So if West Ham are willing to pay £4m for the player then there is no reason for Sheffield to release him.
But it remains to be seen whether the Bramall Lane club will want to part ways with one of their most prized assets during the middle of the season.
John Fleck is not known to be a goalscorer but the player certainly has a nack to provide assists.
Last campaign, the 27-year-old racked up eight assists and this season he has already managed to reach half of that tally just in the first half itself.
But it remains to be seen whether Manuel Pellegrini will provide the player will regular first-team action if the transfer does go through by the end of the January transfer window.
