West Ham United have launched an official bid for Genoa defender Armando Izzo.
Izzo started his youth career in Napoli and after going through a couple of clubs, the centre-back joined Genoa in the summer of 2014.
For the past couple of weeks, various tabloids across England have claimed that Manuel Pellegrini has been planning to make a move for Armando Izzo and now reports are claiming that the Hammers have placed an official bid.
Izzo had a wonderful season in the Serie A this past year and this has clearly spiked the interest of many a top European side.
But no matter how good the player has been on the field, off it he has not been the cleanest of men.
Two years ago, Izzo was accused of being involved in a match-fixing scandal due to his involvement with an Italian crime syndicate and helping them alter the results of two Serie B game between Modena and Avellino and Avellino vs Reggina.
The report suggests that West Ham have made an offer of €8 million which some feel might fall short of what Genoa are demanding for Armando Izzo.
