Rangers FC manager Steven Gerrard has finally broken his silence on Lee Wallace and what the future holds for the left-back.

Lee Wallace has so far made only one substitute appearance for the Teddy Bears this season and despite being fully fit, Steven Gerrard has not included in his plans.

Now though the manager has come out to explain why Lee Wallace has not been seeing any game time ever since he became available.

“As the manager of this club, and I have been since June, I came into (a situation with) Lee Wallace. He was out injured and had missed 12 months of football,” Gerrard said.

“I have to pay my respects to Lee in terms of his professionalism while he’s been injured and the hard work he’s put in trying to get match fit.

“But at the moment, to be really candid, he’s still part of the plans while he’s here but I have better options in that position.

“My relationship with Lee is fine. He trains with us every day and he is working very hard to regain his place in the team. That’s where that situation is.”

Lee Wallace’s relationship with the club broke down last season when the left-back along with Kenny Miller had gotten into an altercation with the then manager Graeme Murty.

Since then the player has not seen any game time for the Gers and now Steven Gerrard’s comments are proof that the loyal Rangers man should try and find a new club during the January transfer window.
