Arsenal might have to take a back seat in the pursuit of Liverpool’s Adam Lallana since Everton have also joined the race to sign him in the summer – as per reports.
The 32-year-old is out of contract at Anfield at the end of the season and while Liverpool do have the option to extend the deal for a further year, we doubt if Klopp will be willing to take that route.
This means Adam Lallana will be available as a free agent and that has attracted the interest from a number of big Premier League clubs.
Up until now, Arsenal and Leicester City were the only big names who were trying to sign the playmaker but as per the latest rumours, Everton now have also joined the race.
Carlo Ancelotti is looking to add a few new players to his squad as he looks to take Everton into the Champions League and an experienced midfielder like Lallana will be the perfect addition.
This is not great news for teams like Arsenal and Leicester but the fact that he will be available as a free agent means no one will back away from this transfer race.
Adam Lallana currently earns £100,000-per-week at Anfield and this could be a bit of an issue for the likes of Everton and Leicester as they would not be too inclined to pay a 32-year-old such high wages especially during a financial crunch.
If Arsenal can secure a Champions League spot by the end of this season then Mikel Arteta will have a fair fighting chance in this deal or else, Leicester City currently look the favourites to bring him on board.
The Foxes are currently being managed by Brendan Rodgers and it was this very same man who had signed Adam Lallana from Southampton in a £25 million deal.
But if the 32-year-old wishes to join Leicester he will have to take a massive pay-cut since there’s no way the Foxes will be ready to pay £100,000-per-week given that their highest earner(Jamie Vardy) takes home only £140,000 weekly.
Arsenal though are capable of pay this amount and some experts believe they should use this to their advantage once the transfer window reopens.
