Jack Grealish to Man City
Jack Grealish playing for Aston Villa

Manchester United desperately want to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa during the upcoming transfer window. And as per various reports, Dean Smith’s side want around £80million for the 24-year-old.

Man United had been hoping to land Jack Grealish for a discounted fee of around £50 million if Villa are relegated from the Premier League by the end of this season but as per Sports Mole, that’s clearly not going to happen.

Sports Mole are reporting: “Aston Villa have reportedly made it clear that they will not be lowering their £80m valuation of Jack Grealish even if they are relegated from the Premier League.

“Manchester United continue to be linked with the Englishman and had reportedly hoped that the attacker’s price would drop to £50m if Smith’s side were relegated.”

Following this revelation, many people feel Man United might be taking a big gamble in paying £80 million for the attacking midfielder especially during times of such a financial crisis.

Are Man United overpaying for Jack Grealish?

According to Alan Hutton, the transfer price is really a massive one but at the same time, the former Villa man has admitted that the 24-year-old is worth every penny.

Hutton told Football Insider: “Obviously it’s a massive price tag but in my opinion, he’s worth every penny, he’s that good.

“He could be a team’s game-changer and that’s no disrespect to anyone at Aston Villa, you know I love them to bits, but for him to be playing with a top-four team I think he’d be outstanding.

“Everybody would be buzzing off him, they would see his quality and I think he would only grow in stature so I totally understand the price tag.

“Whether what’s happened is going to affect it, I’m not too sure because it’s going to happen to every club.”

Ever since Sir Alex left, Man United have spent ridiculous amounts of money in the transfer market but most of these signings have turned out to be duds. This trend though is starting to look change under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Under the Norwegian boss, Man United have kept their spending spree going but almost all the new arrivals have become key parts of the first-team squad. And by spending £80million for Jack Grealish, the Manchester United boss is looking to bring in a long-term partner to Bruno Fernandes.
