Rangers FC will have no other option but to part ways with striker Alfredo Morelos during the summer, that’s according to ex-Gers striker Kenny Miller.

Kenny Miller believes, Alfredo Morelos will be on his way out of the club not only because he wants to play at a more magnificent stage but also because Rangers can do a lot of refurbishing with the transfer money.

Speaking to BBC Sportsound, Miller said, as reported: “If you’re getting £20million for Alfredo Morelos then you could look at that. There’s some real strengthening you could go and do in that squad and that would probably deal with every area we’ve discussed.

“If he stays, there you go, the proof is in the pudding and you’re guaranteed 25 goals – it’s hard to replace that.

“It all depends on where his head is at because he did go off the boil as well, not just him, the whole team went of the boil in the second half of the season. So I wouldn’t point the finger at Alfredo at all, he did go off the boil but he’s still got 28 goals prior to that.

“It’s a lot of goals to have scored in that five, six months of the season. I think he’ll go. I’ve no information on that, I don’t know where he’ll go. But the noises even from Alfredo over the last few seasons I think he does want to move on.

“I think that’s quite obvious, I think he does love it at Rangers but he wants to move on and progress.”

Alfredo Morelos was tipped to move out of Rangers last summer but somehow the Gers managed to hold onto him for one more season. But there is no way Gerrard will be able to convince the Colombian to stay, this time around.

Alfredo Morelos wanted by Leicester City

Big English clubs like Leicester City, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are interested in signing the 23-year-old and once such cash-rich clubs come calling, there’s very little Rangers can do.

Also, under normal circumstances, we might have given Rangers a chance of holding onto Alfredo Morelos but after such a massive lockdown, they will take all the money they can gather from the market.

Right now Leicester City seem to be the favourites in this transfer race since Newcastle United are expected to move onto bigger names if their Saudi-backed takeover is wrapped up in time.

And as far as Aston Villa are concerned, if they are relegated to the Championship next season we doubt if Morelos would want to move to Villa Park.
