Arsenal are not offering Aaron Ramsey with a new contract and the club have informed the player he is free to leave.

Aaron Ramsey’s current deal with the Gunners expires at the end of the current season and most believed the Welshman would put pen to paper on a new deal.

But now Unai Emery has shelved those plans and the club are willing to listen to offers for the midfielder during the January transfer window.

Arsenal will try and sell Aaron Ramsey during the start of the new year or else he will leave the club for free next summer.

But why this sudden change in mind from the London outfit?

Why Arsenal are not offering Aaron Ramsey with a new contract?

For starters, everyone felt that the midfielder was demanding way more money than what he is actually worth prompting the club to pull the plug.

But latest reports suggest otherwise.

According to the Wales Online, Arsenal are not offering Aaron Ramsey with a new contract because the club have failed to qualify for the Champions League.

The London outfit have not been able to make it to the top tier of European football for two seasons as a result of which Unai Emery has decided to cut down on expenses in his squad.

And this is the primary reason why Arsenal are not offering Aaron Ramsey with a new contract.

The Gunners were initially ready to offer a £200,000-a-week deal to the midfielder but Unai Emery was clearly against this idea as the manager wanted cheaper options from within the youth system.

And the fact that Arsenal are not offering Aaron Ramsey with a new contract has clearly helped Liverpool who are said to be the frontrunners to signing the Welsh International during the January transfer window.

Jurgen Klopp reportedly made a move for Ramsey in the summer but Unai Emery was not interested in selling his experienced midfielder then. But now that Arsenal have freed Aaron Ramsey, Liverpool are planning to make another effort to bring the player to Anfield.

The Reds though are not the only club in the hunt for Ramsey as the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan are said to be interested in signing up the midfielder.
