Jorginho playing for Napoli

Chelsea signed Jorginho from Napoli during the summer transfer window and the midfielder has quickly adapted to life in the Premier League.

Maurizio Sarri has chosen to hand Jorginho the role of N’Golo Kante in the first XI and the Brazilian has been doing a superb job.

The Blues paid a transfer fee of £50 million with £7 million in potential add-ons for the services of the 26-year-old and now the midfielder has revealed why he chose to sign for Chelsea.

Jorginho has claimed that reigning Premier League champions Manchester City were also interested to sign him during the summer transfer window but he chose to move to London.

Here’s why:

“There are a lot of things behind a negotiation process,” Jorginho told ESPN.

“I believe Sarri’s arrival played a big part on it.

“And there’s also the greatness of Chelsea, such a big club. So these factors helped me make my mind.

“Yes, it’s a pretty good relationship. He’s always bantering, joking with me.

“He didn’t call me, because he’s not the type to be phoning players, but of course, through agents, I knew what his wish was and what kind of work would be put in here.”

Jorginho is already an integral part of Chelsea’s midfield having played in each one of their Premier League games this season and the 26-year-old is fast turning out to be the fulcrum on which the Blues base their line-up.
