Man United suffered their first defeat of the Premier League ever since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge of the club.

And sadly this defeat came against one of their top-four rivals – Arsenal at the Emirates this past weekend.

It was not like that the Gunners were the more dominating team on the night but actually it was Man United who were wasteful as they failed to capitalise on a number of great goal scoring opportunities.

Arsenal, on the other hand, were clinical.

They defended with great valour and on the other end of the pitch, their strikers proved to a handful for Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof.

And speaking after the game, football pundit Gary Neville has revealed that Lacazette and Aubameyang took the mickey out of the Man United central defenders which eventually ended up costing the Red Devils three precious points.

“Lacazette won the penalty – I personally didn’t think it was a penalty, but there’s no doubt Lacazette was clever,” Neville said.

“He just stepped in front of Fred with a little burst of speed, and then he went over as he felt the contact.

“They won the game. Lacazette and Aubameyang being on the pitch won the game for Arsenal.

“You point towards that first half an hour, Lacazette and Aubameyang got the better of Smalling and Lindelof.

“I point back to my experience under Sir Alex Ferguson. He used to say ‘if your centre-halves haven’t got hold of the opposition centre-forwards, you’ve always got a real problem in a game’.

“It was a case of which goalkeeper played best and which strikers took their chances, and Arsenal won that.”

After the loss, Man United have now slipped down to fifth on the Premier League table and there is every possibility that Chelsea too will move above them since the Blues still have a game in hand.
