Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw by Wolves at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League this weekend.
And with this, the Blues have failed to capitalise on the slip of Manchester United.
The Blues still have one game in hand over their top-four rivals Man United and Arsenal but a win vs Wolves would have given Chelsea the chance to open up a big gap.
Before the game, the Chelsea fans must surely have been busy making all sorts of calculations but once the final whistle was blown, they were relieved that Sarri’s men atleast got one point.
Chelsea went 1-0 down courtesy of a Raul Jimenez goal in the second half and it was up to Eden Hazard to rescue his side with an injury-time equaliser.
Since the draw, a lot of pundits have been busy dissecting the exact reason why the Blues failed to pick up a win but now Eden Hazard has himself come forward to put down the two major reasons why the team failed.
“Of course we are disappointed,” the Chelsea winger said.
“We didn’t create a lot of chances and we moved the ball too slowly.
“This type of game, maybe three months ago we’d have lost.
“The spirit is good. When we lost 6-0 to Manchester City, we said there were three or four months left and we have to try and finish in the top four.
“The players are a bit sad because we probably could do better.”
Next up, Chelsea take on Dynamo Kviv in the Europa League and Sarri is expected to make a number of changes given his team already have one foot in the next round.
And after Europe, the Blues travel to Merseyside to take on Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.
