Arsenal picked up their third win in five Premier League matches, this time beating West Ham United at home. But the Gunners could only manage to score a single goal on the night and their struggle in front of goal was quite evident.

And so after the match, the manager was asked about his side’s lack of creativity infront of goal to which Mikel Arteta admitted to the fact that his players became a bit clueless in the final third.

The manager admitted, as quoted: “I think West Ham were really good in a defensive block.

“I think they made it hard for us, I didn’t think we moved the ball quick enough today and we weren’t sharp enough. We didn’t have the picture as clear as we should have had in the final third to penetrate and be more of a threat.

“We didn’t finish actions at all, I think everything was up there up to the final third and we struggled to find the right pass, which always allows oppositions for transitions and in the first half we lose then ball then we lose areas as well and we allowed them to run.

“After that, it probably was a set-piece, a long ball, and we’re suffering but we will improve and you can always improve by winning.

“Performances are related to winning or not winning matches and with this period that we’re creating, I think it helps to that as well.

“We have to review the game today, take some outcome out of it and prepare the game well to go to Manchester and try to win again.”

Major problems for Arsenal?

Despite the lack of attacking prowess, the Gunners managed to pick up all three points against West Ham United. But next up, the Gunners take on Manchester City and surely things will not be as easy as they were this weekend.

Arsenal take on City away from home and if they keep pulling out blanks in the final third on Wednesday too then surely Arteta and his men are staring at 7th defeat of the season.

The Gunners boss will have to ensure that players like Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe are at the top of their game when the North London club travel to the Etihad.
