Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta seems to have decided that Dani Ceballos is not worth the effort which is why the midfielder is possibly going to be sent back to Real Madrid at the end of the season.

Over the past couple of days, there have been whispers that the Gunners are not too eager to hold onto Ceballos any longer and now the player has himself hinted on a return back to the Bernabeu in the summer.

‘I am happy and I have a contract with Real Madrid,’ Ceballos told Deportes Cuatro, via Metro.

‘I am 23 years old, I’m not over the hill yet. Now I feel much more a player and I am prepared for any challenge that comes my way.’

And just when people were wondering as to why Arteta will make such a choice when the club do not have an alternative in mind, reports are claiming that the Gunners have ramped up their interest in PSG misfit Julian Draxler.

A report in Fussball Transfers claims: “When it comes to Paris St. Germain, the time together with Julian Draxler should come to an end this summer. PSG is desperately looking for a customer for the 26-year-old, who has never really got beyond the role of substitute player since he changed in 2017.

“Basically there is a market for the 51-times national player. Arsenal and another Premier League club have also reached out to Draxler for FT information.”

Will Arsenal face a midfield crisis?

Julian Draxler is a great alternative to Dani Ceballos and if Arsenal can get the German World Cup winner in the summer, surely the fans will have no issues with Ceballos heading back to Spain.

But having said that, the Premier League club aren’t the only side interested in Draxler.

As per some reports, PSG are planning to offer Julian Draxler to Inter Milan in a swap deal for Mauro Icardi and if this is true then Arteta could be in a world of trouble.

There’s a massive chance of Arsenal securing a deal but if PSG are really serious about keeping Icardi permanently then they will want to put Draxler to good use which in turn means the German will not likely be heading to England.

Nothing has been settled yet but one thing’s for certain, Mikel Arteta will have to be confident about signing Julian Draxler before the Gunners can choose to let Dani Ceballos head back to Real Madrid in the summer.
