Arsenal surely do not want to lose Aubameyang to a rival club this summer but recently the player had hinted that the Gunners are yet to make a concrete approach in order to resolve his future.

He told French outlet Telefoot, via Mirror: “I haven’t recently received a proposition but of course there have been discussions with the club. It’s them [the club] who have the keys and for them to do their work. Afterwards, we will see what happens.”

And speaking about the whole contract situation during a press conference, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has revealed that the unexpected lockdown has slowed almost every off-the-pitch work at the club(the possible reason why Arsenal have not yet offered Aubameyang an improved deal).

The manager said in his press conference: “I think in a different context we would have liked to do things much quicker but obviously we have been really tight with time and communication as well.

“These unprecedented times bring a lot of uncertainty and things are getting clearer and clearer every day, we are a step closer to get back playing football and moving forward.

“I think it is our responsibility to make him feel this is the right next step in his career.

“In order to do that, he needs to feel valued, he needs to feel he belongs to us and we want him, and then he really needs to believe that we can take the club forward in the way we want to do, and he is going to be a key player to do that.

“At the moment I am extremely happy with how he has been performing and behaving, I have a really good relationship with him where we can discuss face to face a lot of things. As far as I am aware, he is very happy at the club.”

Will Arsenal even offer a new deal to Aubameyang?

Mikel Arteta has reportedly made up his mind to sell Frenchman Alexandre Lacazette during the summer transfer window so there’s no way the club will be ready to part ways with Aubameyang as well.

But with all this delaying, the Premier League side is just putting more and more reservations into the forward’s mind, which is really bad judgment especially with clubs like Real Madrid and Liverpool sniffing around.

If Aubameyang was to leave this summer, there will be no shortage of takers in the market so the onus is clearly on Mikel Arteta and his management to sort things out as quickly as possible and offer the Gabon international a new and improved deal at the club.
