Chelsea beat Manchester United in the semi-final of the FA Cup on Sunday and next up, they take on Liverpool in the Premier League at Anfield.
The Blues are currently third on the league table meaning if they can pick up a win against the Reds, Lampard’s men will move one step closer to qualifying for the Champions League next season.
But according to Charlie Nicholas, Chelsea will be in for a tough time since Liverpool will be itching to get back to winning ways in midweek after losing to Arsenal during their last league outing.
He wrote for Sky Sports: “It is a cracker. The relegation battle is intense, but so is the top-four race. Question marks are beside all three of them, but how do you pick a winner out of Chelsea, Leicester and Manchester United?
“Liverpool will be agitated with themselves. Trophy presentations can go one way or the other. They are the champions and can go and beat teams by three or four goals to nil, otherwise, it can be flat.
“A 10-per-cent drop is a lot when you are Liverpool, and setting the standards they have set, and they will want to be seen as proper Premier League champions on this occasion. Jurgen Klopp will be angry with them at the moment and I think he will play his strongest team and get a reaction from his players.”
Liverpool have only won two of five matches since winning the Premier League crown and this week, they will be awarded the trophy.
So the last thing they would want to do is lose to Chelsea during a night of celebration which is why the home side will come out all guns blazing.
Also, Chelsea are in some pretty decent form going into this high-profile encounter so Klopp will be extra cautious when he names his starting XI on Wednesday.
