Chelsea put up a brave fight vs Manchester City in the Premier League this weekend but in the end, it was the home side who picked up all three points.

The Blues had control of the match from the very first whistle and were duly rewarded with a goal in the 21st minutes from N’Golo Kante.

Sadly though, their lead lasted just seven minutes as City hit back courtesy of Kevin De Bruyne and from then onwards, it was Guardiola’s side who took control of the match. And if the equaliser was not a big enough blow for Chelsea just about 10 minutes later, City scored the second goal of the match.

And speaking after the match, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has claimed that it was the “finer details” which helped Man City take the edge on Saturday.

“[The possession] was not the critical factor,” the manager said[as reported].

“Coming into the game, with our recent form and how we’ve been developing quickly, I wanted to come and be brave on the ball and off the ball.

“In the first half you saw all of that and at 1-0 we had relative control of the game, but that never lasts.

“There were a lot of positives but we lost the games. It shows at this level it’s the finer details in both boxes that decide it.

“These teams, Liverpool and City, have been getting results for a long time because these finer details, maybe they get them right. I don’t think you can come away from that game and say it was anything other than two really strong teams going against each other.

“One wins it because of a deflected goal and a really good goal, and the rest was in the balance.”

The loss means Chelsea’s winning run has now been halted and they have also slipped from third to the fourth spot on the league table while Man City have been able to keep pace with league leaders Liverpool.
