Arsenal brought in Dani Ceballos on loan from Real Madrid but his time in England has certainly not gone down too well.
Initially, he had made a positive impact at the Emirates but then Unai Emery was sacked following which the midfielder’s graph has been on a steady decline.
Dani Ceballos has so far played in only 11 Premier League games for the Gunners and last month he even wanted to cut his loan deal short and head back to Spain.
Reports had claimed that Valencia were interested in signing him for the remainder of the season which is why he wanted to head back.
But this transfer eventually did not happen with reports claiming that Arsenal did not want to let him leave during the middle of the season.
Now though, Dani Ceballos has explained that it was his choice to remain at the Emirates so that he could repay the faith that the club had shown on him by bringing him in on a loan deal.
“I have never had a quiet transfer market, neither in summer nor winter,” Ceballos told Marca, as quoted by Standard.
“It is a sign that you do things fairly well so that there are teams interested in you.
“But it is also true that I like a stability in a club and I decided to stay at Arsenal, because they signed me and I want to restore trust because I think it is time to step forward.
“It seems silly, but Arsenal fans have a song dedicated to me. There are only three or four players on the team who have a song and they have been there for many years.
“I feel very loved every time I play at the Emirates.”
It’s certainly a brave decision from Dani Ceballos to remain at Arsenal for the rest of the season and he might get some game time under his belt now that the Europa League is going to start once again.
But playing in the cup games and in Europe might be the only way the midfielder can get into the starting XI since as far as we can see, Mikel Arteta has no immediate plans of using him in the Premier League.
