Arsenal lost their recent Europa League clash vs Rennes 3-1 and this shock defeat has sent jitters down amongst the Gunners fans.

The loss has pushed Arsenal on the back foot but given the second leg will be played at the Emirates, Unai Emery’s men are still favourites.

But there was one player who loved inflicting such a humiliating defeat to Unai Emery’s side.

We are talking about former Newcastle United man Ben Arfa who spent four years with Newcastle United and this is the same player who almost lost his career under Unai Emery.

The current Gunners boss froze Ben Arfa out when the attacking midfielder was at PSG so much so that he managed to play just 23 odd games for the Paris outfit during his two-year stay at the club.

So when Ben Arfa and his Rennes teammates were busy humiliating Arsenal on Thursday, the attacking midfielder chose to laugh at Unai Emery while the match was in progress.

This mockery from Ben Arfa has caught the attention of a number of people and now the 32-year-old has come out to explain why he chose to indulge in some giggles.

“My motivation was to play a solid match, to win and get ourselves into a good position to go through,” Ben Arfa said.

“That’s what was in my head. But I did see the same Emery, as agitated as ever. I looked over at him a few times and that made me laugh a little. He hasn’t changed.

“I told some friends before the match that my prediction was that we would win 3-1 or 4-1. We didn’t manage to get the fourth but my prediction was right.

“Arsenal are still the favourites. We will have to score at least one, maybe two goals.

“To be the first team to beat Arsenal in France [means] we are making our own history. I’m happy and proud to make people happy [but there] is a return match.”
