Jurgen Klopp took charge of Liverpool in 2015 and since then, the German manager has restored the big club status at Anfield.

But perhaps for the first time, the manager has come out in public to apologise to Jordan Henderson.

Henderson has been with Liverpool since 2011 and he was considered by many as the long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard.

But during the past couple of seasons, the England international is finally proving his worth for the Anfield outfit.

Jordan Henderson played a key role for Liverpool during their 2-0 win over FC Porto in the Champions League and speaking after the match, Klopp chose to issue an apology towards the midfielder.

“It would be cool if I could ask a player to please play these kinds of passes, and we score immediately!” Klopp said.

“Hendo’s a brilliant player, I’m really happy that he can show that again. He likes the position obviously.

“It was my fault that for one-and-a-half years he played as a number six. Sorry for that!

“But we needed him there. It was a really good performance.”

For most of the season, Jordan Henderson has played in a deep-lying midfielder’s role for Liverpool but against Southampton, the England international came on in the second half and totally changed the game while playing in a more advanced role.

And he once again did the same against Porto on Tuesday.

So does this mean that Jordan Henderson will get to play a more advanced role for now on or will the likes of Winjaldum and Fabinho have a monopoly over those areas of the pitch?
