Carlos Pena’s name will go down in Rangers history as one of the most high profile flops to have ever graced the Ibrox pitch.

The Mexican moved to Rangers in 2017 from Mexican club Guadalajara for a fee of 3 million euros.

And upon his arrival, most Rangers fans thought that their club has signed a real talent.

But during the 2017-18 Premiership season, Carlos Pena managed to play in just 12 league games scoring four goals.

This was enough to prove what an average player the 28-year-old really was and during the January transfer window of 2018, he was sent out on loan to Mexico.

And when Steven Gerrard arrived at the club, he too did the same thing and sent out Carlos Pena to Liga MX side Necaxa on loan.

Rangers eventually terminated his contract last month and right now, the midfielder is without a club.

But reports suggest that Carlos Pena is expected to join a Polish club very soon and before that, the Mexican has revealed why his time at Rangers was such a disaster.

“I admit the mistakes I made at Rangers and back in Mexico, but I have learned from them,” Pena said.

“I believe I can return to the level I was at that saw me play for my country.”
