Timo Werner to Chelsea EPL

Clubs like Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United were all interested in signing Timo Werner from RB Leipzig but it is Chelsea who have managed to bring him on board.

Werner scored 28 goals along with 8 assists in 34 Bundesliga appearances for Leipzig last season and he is being tipped to rekindle that same form in the Premier League.

He will be earning around £170,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge and in a recent interview, Timo Werner named the one person who helped him choose a move to Chelsea over the likes of Man United and Liverpool.

He told the club’s website: “He’s (Lampard) been great to work with and he’s been discussing his plans for the future, and how we want to battle with teams like Man City and Liverpool.

“I think Chelsea is a big club and with this team that we have, I think we can reach a new level.

“We have some very good players here and the manager is there to show us the way, and help us improve.

“We’ve worked a lot on tactical things, as well as our strength and fitness, to make sure we are ready for the start of the season.”

Jurgen Klopp was really eager to work with Timo Werner and recent revelations have suggested that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also met with the striker in Berlin in order to try and persuade him to join United.

But in the end, it seems like it was Frank Lampard who managed to convince the German international into committing his future to Chelsea.

Chelsea have clearly done the best business amongst all the English top-flight clubs and many pundits think they might just be able to challenge Liverpool and Manchester City for the league title this upcoming season.
