Arsenal have been chasing midfielder Thomas Partey for ages now and it looks like the Mikel Arteta is planning to go to long lengths in order to bring him in.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano is currently one of the most trusted transfer experts in Europe and according to him, the Premier League side have offered not one but two players as part of a swap deal for Thomas Partey.
Romano said, as reported by Express: “For sure they spoke with Atletico Madrid. It was during the meeting they had for Thomas, the first time it was in July.
“They spoke about Matteo Guendouzi and they spoke also about Lacazette.
“But at the moment, Atletico Madrid was not going for Lacazette.
“We will have to wait a bit to see about this situation because it will also depend on what will happen to other clubs if Atletico Madrid will sell for example Diego Costa and what will happen with Luis Suarez.”
Matteo Guendouzi has been frozen out of the Arsenal squad so it makes perfect sense that Arteta would want to use him as a counter-weight in trying to bring in Thomas Partey.
But we do not understand why Arsenal would allow Lacazette to leave especially when he does not have a proper replacement in place yet.
Some experts though think the manager is looking to promote young players like Martinelli and Nketiah which is why Lacazette is likely to be shown the door.
We will have to wait and see if Atletico Madrid agree to this arrangement or do they stick with their original demand of being paid the release clause in full.
