Chelsea want to bring in a new goalkeeper before the 2020-21 season kicks off and some rumours have suggested that the Blues could try and sign Jan Oblak.

The Atletico Madrid man is easily one of the best shot-stoppers in world football right now and recent reports have claimed that Frank Lampard is looking to make a move for the 27-year-old in the coming few weeks.

The Blues do have the money to spare which is why many pundits have chosen not to rule out a transfer but this week, Diego Simeone has made it clear that his club have no intentions of parting ways with the Slovenian international.

“It does not surprise me, every year our most important players are wanted by the best in the world,” the Atletico boss told the media, as per Goal.

“It is normal to always look for the best – and we have many. Some have left and others have stayed.

“It is logical and normal that anyone wants Oblak. He is our captain and an important player. I hope we can count on his work, which is enormous for Atleti.”

Can Chelsea sign Jan Oblak?

Chelsea will have to spend around €100 million if they wish to sign Jan Oblak and we do not think the Blues management will be too keen to splash so much money on a keeper when they already have Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Yes, Kepa has been really poor this season but it just does not make any sense in trying to buy another keeper when they need to strengthen other areas of the pitch.

Lampard needs to bring in defenders and maybe midfielders so we do not think the manager will waste so much money on one single player. Chelsea are also being linked to players like Andre Onana, Fraser Forster and Nick Pope and we think they will try and secure a move for one of these players.
