Liverpool are reportedly not interested in signing Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli this summer which is great news for arch-rivals Manchester United.

Sky Sports have claimed: “Liverpool are not interested in signing Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly – but they may be in the market for another centre-back if Dejan Lovren leaves the club.”

Victor Lindelof has done really well alongside Harry Maguire this season but there’s no denying that Man United could use another top-class defender alongside the England international. And now that Liverpool have seemingly backed out of the deal, Kalidou Koulibaly will be the perfect upgrade.

And according to Dwight Yorke, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should try and sign the 29-year-old defender during the summer transfer window.

“Without a doubt, I think he’s one that everyone is after and if Manchester United are going to make some big signings like they always do, I would definitely [sign him], if we can afford him then why not?” he told Stadium Astro, as reported.

“I think he is the perfect fit to come into centre-half alongside Maguire, that would be awesome to have him there and suddenly we look a proper team then, with the likes of Pogba and Bruno and one of the holding midfielders and the front three forwards as I mentioned.

“We become a team who suddenly everybody will be fearing. But certainly with everyone after him, what he’s done in the Italian league so far he is a name everyone is after.

“If he’s one that everyone is after then why should United not go after him? And that sends a clear message that we are hard to beat and certainly with the quality, we are possessing at the minute, for me that’s kind of a no-brainer if I were United at this stage.

“If I was Ole or in Ole’s position, I would be persuading to get him because I know how important [it is] to have another centre-half of his quality alongside Maguire.”

There’s no denying that Kalidou Koulibaly will be the perfect addition to the Man United squad next season but Solskjaer is already targeting some top quality players who are going to cost a lot of money.

The likes of Jack Grealish and Jadon Sancho will not come cheap and we are not sure if Man United will have money left to try and make a serious enough bid for the Napoli defender.

Also, as per some rumours, Manchester City are currently leading the race to sign the centre-back this summer and we doubt if Koulibaly can reject the offer to work under Pep Guardiola next season, even if he does not get the chance to play Champions League football.
