Liverpool brought in some pretty massive signings last year. which obviously helped them win the Champions League.

They brought in Virgil Van Dijk from Southampton at the start of 2018 and they went on to secure the signing of Alisson Becker from AS Roma.

But this time around, the Reds has probably the quietest time in the transfer market amongst the top six sides of the Premier League.

Liverpool brought in 17-year-old centre-Back Sepp van den Berg from PEC Zwolle and have also signed Adrian on a free transfer.

But apart from that, the Anfield outfit have no more signings in the market and now speaking about this, Jurgen Klopp has revealed why he has chosen not to sign any big names.

“You should never do transfers because other clubs are doing transfers,” Klopp told Sky Sports.

“That makes no sense, it’s not about that. And if you sit back for a second and have a look at the squad, do we need more players? People will say, yes, we need a substitute for Sadio Mane, for Mohamed Salah, whatever.

“But those players are here. So, do you get a one-for-one replacement? A big signing? People think that players from other clubs, other countries, are better than the players we have here but without really having the proof, because those players haven’t played here, or whatever else.

“It’s just that what is new is seen as more exciting. It’s like with a new car.

“Your old car is completely reliable, but you want a new one and two weeks later it breaks down. It looks better, but obviously, it’s not that good.”

Last month, there were reports that Philippe Coutinho might return back to Liverpool this summer after Barcelona have decided to offload him.

But Jurgen Klopp was quick to crush all these rumours by saying that Liverpool have no intentions of bringing back the Brazilian despite him being available on a loan deal for the upcoming season.
