Rangers FC have been heavily linked with a move for Livingston FC forward Lyndon Dykes who has been in sensational form during the 2019-20 season.

The player has netted nine goals and provided eight assists in the Premiership this past season and recently he had claimed that he is ready to not only join Rangers but also stamp his authority as a Teddy Bear.

“I don’t see why I couldn’t step into a club like Rangers,” Dykes said, as per the BBC.

“I back myself 100%. I would learn from the players they have, the manager, and once I got in that environment put my head down and work hard to be that striker that the club needs.

“I’m enjoying my time at Livingston. But I want to get to the highest level. If that’s down in England or in Scotland or wherever it is, that’s something that I aim to do.”

This statement had led many people to believe that Lyndon Dykes is keen to join the Ibrox outfit and Gerrard’s side are now sure to make a move to sign him in the summer.

But according to former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie, the Gers will be prized out in the transfer of the 24-year-old.

McAvennie told Football Insider: “Dykes has caused problems for the Rangers and Celtic defence.

“He could have tipped his hat to Scotland and I would have endeared him but he is going to play for Australia which is fine.

“A good player but he will cost a lot of money. I do not know if Rangers could afford him.

“He will not go to Celtic because they have two very good strikers in Edouard and Griffiths. Dykes would not want to go there and play third fiddle because Edouard and Griffiths are not going anywhere.

“It would need to be Rangers and he would be too much money for them.”

Dykes still has two years left on his current deal so clearly Livingston will not let him leave for cheap but if Rangers do have to part ways with Alfredo Morelos then the Gers will most certainly have the money to sign the 24-year-old.
