Here’s why Man United failed to break down Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday: Agree?

Man United suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday meaning the Anfield outfit still remain undefeated in the league so far this season.

Manchester United are the only side who have managed to pick up points vs the Reds this campaign and given that Solskjaer’s men have performed well against the big sides, some pundits were hoping that they will be able to pick up something from Sunday’s match.

But instead, they were humbled by Jurgen Klopp’s men as Liverpool were largely the better side during the match barring the last quarter of the game when Man United threw the kitchen sink at the home side.

And speaking after the match, Solskjaer explained that his team did manage to claw back during the second half of the match but lack of finishing moves off was the biggest undoing for them on Sunday.

The manager said to the club’s official website: “I think the reaction was really good.

“Of course, in the first 10 minutes of the second half they pushed us back, sometimes that happens against good teams, but we had a keeper that played fantastic. We had defenders that did their job and we got back into the game.

”We created chances, big chances, we created pressure, we created transitions. Then the final ball or the final finish or the final cross wasn’t good enough. The last half-an-hour was really good.“

“Of course, you’re never happy when you lose a game. The first goal was disappointing to concede, the goal from a set-piece.

“We didn’t deal with that well enough. In the last half hour, I thought we were excellent.

”We pegged them back, pressed them, had the majority of the possession in the second half, pushed them back and created chances, big chances.

“And we created the pressure, I thought they looked nervy and then, of course, we send everyone up to get the equaliser and they get that goal.“

In fairness to the Man United boss, his players did create some great chances during the matches and if they have managed to take them in their stride then surely they would have managed to salvage something out of the match.
