Here’s the major reasons why Steven Gerrard could succeed Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool: Agree?

There’s a big chance that Jurgen Klopp might not renew his contract at Liverpool and many believe that when the German leaves, it will be Steven Gerrard who would take charge of the team.

Right now Steven Gerrard is the manager of SPFL side Rangers FC and during the past one and a half years, the former midfielder has done a pretty decent job at Ibrox.

Even though Rangers failed to challenge Celtic for the Premiership title last season but most pundits feel the Gers will be able to overthrow their arch-rivals from the top spot this time around.

And people have also predicted that once that happens, Steven Gerrard would vacate his position at Rangers and eye the Liverpool managerial post which is obviously his dream job.

Many people have even claimed that Gerrard would be the automatic choice to replace Jurgen Klopp primarily because of his legendary status at the club.

But while speaking to the media, former teammate Jamie Carragher has predicted that the current Rangers boss will only be able to lead Liverpool on merit and not on status.

Carragher said(as quoted by The Liverpool Echo): “With managers, it’s all about timing, really. Who knows when Jurgen Klopp is going to go?

“Stevie could be having a difficult time here, he could be somewhere else or he could be absolutely flying at Rangers and people are thinking he’s made for the Liverpool job.

“Stevie will be in the reckoning because he is Steven Gerrard. But more importantly, because he is doing really well as a manager.

“There’s no doubt that the more experiences he has will enhance him in his managerial career, but there’s nothing to say he couldn’t go straight from Rangers to Liverpool.

“I can assure you now, however, that Steven Gerrard’s focus is on trying to stop Celtic winning nine in a row and on being successful at Ibrox.

“He wouldn’t take short-cuts. He’s a massive name and a lot of people in his position might think they don’t need to do coaching courses or whatever. But he does it properly.

“He just has that stature. He is Steven Gerrard. When he walks into a room, you feel that presence.

“I know myself from Liverpool how it feels when the manager has the crowd and the players pulled together. It feels like that at Rangers when I watch them.

“I see all the videos and different things of Steven and the players celebrating a big result. There is a togetherness there.

“You could feel the connection he has with the supporters even during the Legends game. He has got the crowd in the palm of his hand and I’m sure it will be the same in the dressing room.

“We all know the personality and character he had as a player, so you can imagine the messages Steven delivers and the way he delivers them. He will be putting a bit of himself into those players. That’s what great managers do.”
