Rangers and Celtic played out the first Old Firm Derby of the 2019-20 season and it was the Bhoys who came out victorious in this high-profile encounter.
Celtic won the match 2-0 courtesy of goals from Odsonne Edouard right after the half-hour mark and an injury-time goal from Jonny Hayes.
The Ibrox outfit struggled to keep up with their Glasgow rivals and eventually in frustration, Jordan Jones ended up receiving a 96th-minute red card for a very clumsy and unnecessary challenge.
The match was played at Ibrox which meant the defeat was even more humiliating for the Teddy Bears fans. But unfortunately, one home fan chose to vent it out in a rather shameful manner.
After the match, there has been a footage doing the rounds where a 15-year-old Rangers fan is filmed taunting Celtic skipper Scott Brown over the death of his sister.
Thankfully though swift action has been taken as the teenager has since been charged and arrested over the invective abuse and now reports have also revealed that the Gers managing director Stewart Robertson phoned Scott Brown to apologize for the matter and also wrote a personal mail.
A source told the Daily Record: “Scott was obviously deeply upset and angry about what was said but he has taken a great deal of comfort from the support he has received from all across the board over the last 24 hours.
“He didn’t want an issue to be made of this but, now that it has become public knowledge, he is grateful for support he’s received from all over and the swift and sincere response he’s had from Rangers as a club.”
The Old Firm Derby without a doubt is one of the most intense rivalries in the world and Scott Brown is one player who is utterly hated by the Ibrox faithful.
But having said this, the comments that the teenager made is not acceptable at all and even the Teddy Bears management know, how grave an offence this is, which is why they have taken such swift action.
But some people feel that this incident has not ended here since the Bhoys fans might be looking for some payback when Rangers come to Celtic Park.
