Willian playing for Chelsea

Chelsea winger Willian looks all set to move out of Stamford Bridge in the coming weeks and Arsenal will possibly be his next destination, according to a report in Sky Sports.

The report claims: “Arsenal have made a formal three-year contract offer to Willian, edging them to the front of the race to sign the Brazilian forward.

“Joining Mikel Arteta’s rejuvenated side and the chance to work with fellow Brazilian Edu are the reasons Arsenal are favourites to secure Willian’s signature.

“The Gunners have made a formal three-year contract offer to Willian, still some way short of the terms offered by Barcelona and Inter Miami.”

Willian’s agent had claimed that a number of big clubs were interested in signing the 31-year-old but it looks like he has his heart set on Arsenal, primarily cause he wants to remain in the Premier League next season.

And according to Sky Sports News’ Kaveh Solhekol, Willian is eager to land a three-year deal, something that Chelsea are not willing to offer.

He wrote: “Willian wants one big final contract – ideally a three-year deal to take him to 35. Chelsea would like to keep him, though they’re not going to offer him three years.

“At the moment it looks like Arsenal is his most likely destination but he is a free agent and at his age, realistically, you’re likely to go where there is the most money and longest contract on offer.

“He’s got a great injury record so his agent will be saying, ‘Don’t worry about his fitness’.”

Frank Lampard would have loved to hold onto Willian for one more season but there’s no way the Blues will be ready to offer him a three-year deal, especially since he will be 32 years old in a couple of days

Arsenal though should have no issues in bringing the Brazilian on board since he wouldn’t cost a penny and Mikel Arteta can use the saved money to rebuild the other problematic areas of his squad.
