Arsenal picked up their second win in a row in the Premier League this weekend and Alexandre Lacazette once again found his name on the scoresheet.
The Frenchman has now scored two goals in his two appearances for the first-team but it seems like his future is still in heavy doubt.
Alexandre Lacazette is set to be a free agent in two years time and there had been rumours that the club are already planning to hold contract talks with the forward.
But speaking after the win against West Ham, Mikel Arteta has made it clear that Arsenal are yet to hold any meeting with Lacazette regarding the extension of his current deal.
“At the moment, we haven’t started any negotiations,” the manager said in his post-match press conference.
“We have a lot of things still to do in this market and at the moment we are focusing on those things.
“He’s a player I’m really happy with. I think we’ve shown him a lot of faith since I arrived here, but we cannot start any speculation.
“We know that any player who is under two years of their contract is always going to be talked about.”
This has prompted many people to believe that if a good enough bid comes their way then Arsenal will not hesitate in sending out Alexandre Lacazette during the ongoing transfer window.
But we think Arteta will not take such a big risk simply cause the North London side do not have enough time to bring in a like-for-like replacement.
So at the moment, Alexandre Lacazette will remain at the Emirates and his performance during the current campaign should decide whether he will get a new deal or not.
