Liverpool are set to miss eight first-team players vs Everton but will their latest signing be available to play?

Liverpool picked up a stellar win against Newcastle United in midweek but the problems are not getting any less for Jurgen Klopp. Amidst massive injury problems they have signed Arthur Melo and the Juventus man could turn out to be a very important player for them in the next few months.

Already a series of players are out injured and the name of Jordan Henderson has been added to this list after he picked up a hamstring injury during the Newcastle game.

Jürgen Klopp said in his pre-match press conference: “Nothing yet. We are still waiting for the result, to be honest. It was now only 12.30 or so; I asked before I came here and [we] didn’t get a result yet.

“He is definitely out, he is injured, but the extent I don’t know.”

This injury to the club captain means he is ruled out for their next game against Everton but the manager has hinted that Diogo Jota is very close to making a return.

“Diogo probably will be in as well, he trained yesterday with the team first time. He will train today,” said the manager.

“I have to make a decision, does it make sense that we involve him already or not? But if, it is the first time we have five attackers – sounds like Christmas!”

Jota should likely be passed fit to be the matchday squad for the Merseyside Derby but we don’t think the manager will risk using him, especially since the Champions League starts next week.

Klopp also updated on his other injured players and none of them will be coming back this weekend.

“It’s a muscle injury [for Keita],” he said. “For him a muscle injury, Ox is a muscle injury and they will be out for a while. Hendo, we don’t know yet.

“Calvin Ramsay is still out but really getting closer and closer. For him, it was something with his back, something to do with age and growing and these kinds of things. He didn’t train now properly with us, but he gets closer.

“Thiago is the closest from all [of them]. I think the start of the week, next week, he will be in team training. Ibou, in and around the international break he will be back in training.”

Will Arthur Melo be available to play against Everton?

The midfield crisis has forced Liverpool to sign Arthur Melo on a loan deal but the manager has revealed that he will not be available for the Everton game.

“My information is it will not happen until tomorrow, the international clearance. We all hope he will be fine for Napoli,” the manager said.

Now that Jordan Henderson has also picked up an injury, the absence of Arthur Melo will be a big miss for Liverpool.

Currently, midfielders Henderson, Thiago, Naby Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain are all out injured and with Arthur Melo also unavailable, Jurgen Klopp has to use Harvey Elliot, Fabinho and James Milner in midfield.

Liverpool’s possible absentees for the Everton game:

Ibrahima Konate – Knee Injury – Unavailable.

Naby Keita – Muscle Injury – Unavailable.

Oxlade-Chamberlain – Muscle Injury – Unavailable.

Henderson – Hamstring – Unavailable.

Calvin Ramsey – Lower Back Injury – Unavailable.

Jota – Thigh Injury – Late fitness test.

Thiago – Thigh Injury – Unavailable.

Kelleher – Groin Injury – Unavailable.
