Bernardo Silva wanted by Barcelona
Bernardo Silva

FC Barcelona is very much interested in signing Bernardo Silva from MCFC but with each passing day, it’s looking like the Blaugrana are going to miss out.

Silva has just won the English treble with Manchester City but rumours are ripe that the midfielder wants to leave the Premier League, in search of a new adventure.

Barcelona and PSG are the two European clubs who want to sign him and there’s also interest from the Saudi Pro League. PSG had tabled a €42 million plus a player offer but MCFC have been swift to turn it down as the EPL champions are now pushing Bernardo Silva to sign a new deal contract.

Will Bernardo Silva end up joining Barcelona or is he heading to PSG?

Pep Guardiola views Silva as one his main men for the next season which is why Manchester City have now offered him a contract extension until 2027. The two-year contract extension will see the midfielder earns around £300,000-a-week and there’s no way Barca will be able to match these figures.

Xavi is really fond of the 28-year-old and he’s asked his board to bring Silva in with priority but the La Liga out is in major financial distress. The only way they can afford to pay wages for someone like Bernardo Silva is if they see a few high-profile exits in the coming weeks.

Al Hilal are also pushing to sign the Portugal international but he prefers to remain in Europe which means we can safely rule out a move to the Saudi Pro League.

Despite their failed bid, PSG are keeping their hopes high and currently, it looks like the French giants have a great chance of landing Silva.

Silva is yet to make up his mind regarding the contract extension but if he wants a fresh challenge then there’s no way he is going to sign the new deal. PSG’s initial offer was far away from the €100 million valuation that MCFC have set for Bernardo Silva but they are a club that can certainly pull this one off.

Also, in the previous few days, Man City have been scouting Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella as a potential replacement for Silva and this could mean that they fear the Portuguese international could be on his way out.

Guardiola won’t be happy if he loses both Gundogan and Bernardo Silva in the same transfer window but if City are getting the right price for the latter they won’t hesitate to offload him. There’s no way Barcelona stand a chance at signing him and if he wishes to leave then Paris is going to be his next probable destination.
