Chelsea were under a fair bit of pressure at the start of the new year but ever since Thomas Tuchel has taken charge of the side, the Blues look like a completely different unit.

The London side are undefeated in their previous nine Premier League matches and are yet to taste defeat under their new manager. Chelsea have not only blown away the weaker sides but they have also managed to pick wins points against teams like Atletico Madrid, Everton and even Liverpool.

Right now, Chelsea are fourth on the league table just ahead of their London rivals West Ham United and according to Paul Merson, Tuchel’s side are now in pole position to secure that final Champions League spot.

Merson told on Sky Sports: “Chelsea are now in pole position to finish in the top four after a big week of results, but it is not a foregone conclusion.

“They have to keep producing right until the end of the season.

“There are not too many concerns about injuries at the moment. They have a really good squad and we’ve seen it utilised in the last few weeks by Tuchel. [N’Golo] Kante and [Mason] Mount were rested on Monday, Olivier Giroud is on the bench too and Tammy Abraham is not even getting a look in.

“It’s far from job done, though. They need to keep this run going because we’ve already seen this season that things can change very quickly.

“West Ham keep winning and Tottenham are flying again. It’s lucky Chelsea have been on this brilliant run and are in the position they are in because otherwise, they’d have been out of it.”

West Ham United have been in brilliant form all throughout this season and they are just two points behind Chelsea, with a game in hand. So, if they can pick up all three points against Man United this weekend then Moyes’ side will once again dethrone Chelsea.

Obviously, Chelsea’s position is far from secure but we are more than certain that the Hammers will not be able to maintain this same momentum up until the final week of May.

West Ham are already in uncharted territory and they now have some really tough fixtures coming up.

Chelsea, on the other hand, face relatively easier opponents right until the point when they take on West Ham United in the final week of April. So, if Thomas Tuchel’s side can maintain the same level of intensity over the next few matches then they should be able to secure the final UCL spot without any major competition from the Hammers.
