Christian Pulisic played his last game for Chelsea in their 1-1 draw at Brighton and Hove Albion in January and since then he’s been recovering from a muscle injury.

The American international tore his abductor muscle at the start of the new year which meant his season was more or less over. But this unexpected lockdown has given him some much-needed time to catch up on his fitness and hopefully be match-fit.

The player has bumped up his training regime and Marcos Alonso has hinted that the forward could be fully fit when the Premier League season resumes in the coming month.

“I think he has great potential,” Alonso said, as reported.

“Since preseason where he showed in a couple of games the things he is capable of, he looks like a great prospect. He has quality, speed, I thought he was going to struggle a bit with the physicality of the Premier League but he has done great.

“He missed a little bit of the continuity to show even more and keep improving but I think he’s going to be a great player for Chelsea.

“Hopefully, with his time off, he’s going to come back stronger from this small injury he had. I hope he can help us score important goals and have assists for many years. With the quality he has, I’m sure he will do.”

Will Christian Pulisic remain at Chelsea beyond the summer?

Pulisic has had a really tough time at Chelsea but before his injury, the player was starting to find his feet in England thanks to Frank Lampard. And once the remaining games start, the 21-year-old will immediately be brought back to the fold by his manager.

But all that could change pretty quickly since Chelsea are looking to bring in Philippe Coutinho from FC Barcelona during the summer transfer window.

Some experts feel Coutinho though being a central playmaker could well be used as a right-winger, the same area where Pulisic operates and this could be trouble for the former Dortmund man.

Christian Pulisic is one of the most talented youngsters in world football right now but the player has really struggled to get his feet off the ground in England this year. While we firmly believe Lampard will give him time to sort out all the problems and revive his career but if Coutinho is really coming in, then there’s every chance the Blues might just look to cash in on him during the summer.

*Fingers crossed that such a thing doesn’t happen*
