Manchester United are seemingly interested in signing RB Leipzig midfielder Dani Olmo, who’s wanted by a host of other top European clubs.

Manchester City, Tottenham, Bayern Munich and even Barcelona are said to be tracking the 25-year-old who has a release clause of €60 million in his current contract which expires in 2027.

There have been no concrete exit talks but according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Dani Olmo might be thinking of leaving at the end of this season because the attacking midfielder has already been in touch with his agents across Europe.

Romano told Give Me Sport: “Yes, there’s a chance[he could leave], but at the moment, I’m told that he’s still in initial meetings with his agents around Europe. He’s also not in advanced negotiations or talks because he has a release clause in his contract worth around €60m (£51m), so the price is already there.

“We know that Leipzig don’t like to negotiate usually. You have to pay the clause or nothing, like what happened, for example, with Dominik Szoboszlai at Liverpool last summer. So, I think they’re already all well-informed about the situation of Olmo, but at the moment, I’m not aware of anything advanced in terms of contacts.”

Dani Olmo has been on Leipzig’s books since 2019/20 and to date, the No 10 has played close to 150 games for the German side. This campaign, he’s scored four and assisted five goals in 19 Bundesliga games with an xG of 3.16 and an xA of 3.37.

Dani Olmo is a natural No. 10 but he can play as a winger as well. In fact, this season, the 25-year-old has played more times as a right-winger than as an attacking midfielder.

For teams like Man United and Man City, Olmo will not particularly be at the top of their wishlist but a team like Tottenham can certainly do with someone like him. United are in search of a new right-winger and if Ten Hag views Olmo in that role then they could go all out for him.

However, the Premier League clubs might be left high and dry because Dani Olmo was a member of Barcelona’s La Masia academy before he joined Dinamo Zagreb in 2014 and according to the latest rumours, the midfielder wants to return to Camp Nou.

Barcelona will only go after the Leipzig man if they can sort out their finances but the club are planning to sell several of their big-name players so gathering €60 million should not be a problem for them.

RB Leipzig had paid €29 million to sign Dani Olmo so they won’t mind bagging €60 million for him but we have a feeling that the Spain international’s preference is to join Barcelona. He’s a very good player who’s proved his worth in the German league over the years but there’s no any of the English clubs will want to start a bidding war for the 25-year-old.
