Emiliano Martinez has been tipped to move out of Arsenal this ongoing transfer window and Schalke are the latest club interested in signing him up, as per Sky Sports.
Sky are claiming: “Schalke are interested in signing Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
“Schalke are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper after last season’s No 1 Alexander Nubel joined Bayern Munich on a free transfer.
“However, the Bundesliga side are in financial difficulties and allowed midfielder Weston McKennie to join Juventus last weekend.”
Schalke are not the first club who have shown an inclination towards signing Emiliano Martinez as last week some rumours had suggested that newly promoted Premier League side Leeds United want to sign him as well.
The 27-year-old has already hinted at an exit if he does not get regular playing time during the 2020/21 season at the Emirates.
“I showed that I can play, I need to play more games next season,” he told Continental 590, via Football London.
“I want to establish myself at Arsenal and become first choice. If I don’t play, I’m going to move, I’m going to go where I play more.”
And now with so many clubs keen to bring him on board, Mikel Arteta might himself be urged to cash in on the Argentine in the coming weeks.
It’s clear that Bernd Leno is going to be the undisputed No 1 for the North London side next campaign so either Emiliano Martinez will have to warm the benches once again or choose a move between Schalke or Leeds United.
If he truly wants to heads out then we think the keeper would want to remain in the English top division rather than joining a German who are in an utter financial mess since the pandemic hit.
