Bernardo Silva is eager to play for Barcelona next summer but he is not going to wait until eternity to leave Manchester City.

As per Sport, Silva wants his future sorted out before the European Championships so that he has ample time to join pre-season camp. This means Barca effectively have around two months to sort out their mess and decide if they want to sign the Manchester City midfielder or not.

Bernardo Silva has been with Man City since 2017 and the Portugal international has enjoyed unparalleled success at the club. So far, he’s won five Premier Leagues, two FA Cups, one UCL and four League Cups. And by the end of this season, he might add another league trophy to his cabinet.

However, Silva feels he’s achieved everything with MCFC which is why he wants a new challenge, preferably in Spain with Barcelona which happens to be one of his dreams.

Should Barcelona go out and spend money on Bernardo Silva?

Barcelona are very interested in signing Silva but his £50m release clause is proving to be the major stumbling block for the LaLiga side. The Catalans are amidst a major financial mess and it’s currently impossible for them to spend so much money on a single player.

They will have to sell some important players in order to gather funds and this is where all the problem is.

Xavi is very clear that the club should go out and sign Bernardo Silva during the upcoming summer window but the club’s hierarchy feels that they can put the money to better use.

As per rumours, the Barca management feels signing a forward and a left-winger should be their priority for the summer.

While Barca do need attackers for the 24/25 season, currently they do not have any proper attacking midfielder in their squad. Gavi, Pedri, Frenkie de Jong and Gundogan are all central midfielders by trade so even Bernardo Silva is a necessary signing. Also, Silva can play as a right-winger as well meaning if Raphinha is sold then the Manchester City man can double up as a winger.

Bernardo Silva is 29 years old so he is at the peak of his career and this season, the midfielder has 11 goal contributions in 30 Premier League appearances so far. Manchester City obviously do not wish to lose such an impactful midfielder but the release clause in his contract renders them helpless.

If Barcelona can manage to gather funds then going after Silva is an absolute no-brainer, no matter which other departments need refurbishing. However, if Barcelona cannot gather the funds in time then there’s a major chance that Silva will not push for an exit because his relationship with Guardiola and Man City is very healthy and he does not want to ruin it unnecessarily.
