Rangers FC are looking to make a move for Everton centre-back Lewis Gibson during the upcoming transfer window – as per Football Insider.

The report claims: “Rangers have been given new hope in their bid to prise rising star Lewis Gibson from Everton, Football Insider can reveal.

“Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that Rangers are keeping tabs on Gibson’s situation after being among the clubs who enquired about signing him on loan in January.”

The 19-year-old joined Everton from Newcastle United back in 2017 and right now he is out on loan to Fleetwood Town where he has made a really positive impact – playing in nine League One games so far.

The defender is set to return back to Everton at the end of this season but if the Toffees manage to sign Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes, then the youngster will fall further down the pecking order.

Right now Ancelotti already has players like Yerry Mina, Mason Holgate and Michael Keane meaning if Gabriel was to arrive then surely Gibson will have no future at Everton.

And this is what Rangers FC are counting on right now as Steven Gerrard looks to strengthen his backline for the upcoming season.

The player is regarded very highly within the Everton academy and he will undoubtedly be a fine addition to the Gers squad. But his transfer fee could be a massive issue right now.

Everton paid £1million to NUFC for the services of the player and given that he signed a contract extension this year, Rangers might have to break the bank in order to make this transfer happen.

We are still not sure as to how much will the Premier League club demand but if they are planning to make a profit out of this deal then it’s most certainly trouble for the SPFL outfit.
