Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard has attracted a new suitor in the form of London side Tottenham Hotspur, according to the BBC.

West Ham United still hold a substantial interest in the midfielder and after failing to sign him on a permanent deal last summer, the Hammers are looking to bring him on board at the end of this season.

Jesse Lingard is out of contract at Manchester United next summer and as per the report, Spurs have contacted the player’s representatives to be able to sign the midfielder.

Will Spurs leap frog over West Ham in the race to sign Jesse Lingard?

Jesse Lingard chose to remain at Manchester United to try and fight for his place but things have not turned out as planned. This season, the England international has played only 95 minutes across eight Premier League games.

Under Ole he was a bench warmer and even under Ralf Rangnick, the 29-year-old has no future at the club so he’s bound to leave in the summer and by the looks of it, the player has no shortage of takers.

He had a great loan spell with the Hammers so David Moyes will be hoping that Lingard will want to join a team where he’s familiar with the surroundings. But then, playing under a manager like Antonio Conte is also not an easy offer to decline.

Spurs or West Ham United: Which club will Jesse Lingard choose?

The Hammers have performed exceptionally well under Moyes but his loan spell last season had clearly shown that Jesse Lingard can very easily become a regular starter in that side.

But this situation stands true in the case of Spurs as well since the likes of Dele Alli and Lo Celso have been really underwhelming.

With both sides ready to offer him regular game time we think European football will be a deciding factor in terms of Lingard choosing his next destination.

If Spurs cannot secure European football next season the Hammers will be confident of signing the Manchester United misfit as a free agent.

Some rumours had suggested that the interested sides might look to sign the midfielder in a cut-price deal this month but according to Sky Sports, Jesse Lingard wants to remain at Old Trafford until the end of this season.
