Brahim Diaz has done fairly well for Real Madrid since returning from his loan spell with AC Milan but his long-term future might lie in the English Premier League.
Diaz has continued his growth at the Bernabeu scoring five and assisting two league goals so far this season but he’s wanted by as many as four EPL clubs. Tottenham, Liverpool, Arsenal and lately Manchester United have all registered their interest in the attacking midfielder.
Brahim Diaz spent some time with the Manchester City academy before joining Real Madrid in 2019 for a reported fee of around €17 million. However, his move to Spain wasn’t a bed of roses because the midfielder was immediately sent out on loan to Milan for three years.
Man United’s interest in the midfielder looks the weakest because they already have Bruno Fernandes plus they have also signed Mason Mount( a player who prefers a more advanced role) so it’s very hard to see them going after another No 10. Brahim Diaz can also play on the left flank but Ten Hag has Rashford and Garnacho for that position. Apart from United, Arsenal and Spurs have only one top-quality attacking midfielder so Diaz can join one of them and easily slot in. The likes of Odegaard and James Maddison have been in top form but it’s always healthy to add some competition.
Liverpool are the club that perhaps have the biggest need of a player like Brahim Diaz because Harvey Elliott is their only attacking midfielder. Dominik Szoboszlai is playing in an advanced role but he’s naturally a central midfielder.
Will Brahim Diaz leave Real Madrid to try and join an EPL club?
Real Madrid are not interested in selling Brahim Diaz and even the player’s representatives have claimed that he is happy under Ancelotti.
This stance might change very soon because Madrid are about to sign Kylian Mbappe and once he arrives, Diaz’s game time will decrease massively. Ancelotti has used the 24-year-old in a central role or as a left winger and both positions will have fierce competition next season.
Endrick and Mbappe will arrive in the summer and Real Madrid already have top talents like Rodrygo, Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham.
Brahim Diaz has started only 12 league games this season but he still managed to score five goals from just 11 shots on target and currently, he has an xG of 4.28. He has his hopes high because this is his first full campaign with the Los Blancos but it’s going to be an uphill battle for him next time around.
His contract expires in 2027 so Madrid are in no hurry to sell him but some experts feel that if the midfielder wants to leave then the club might cash in on him. Playing for a team like Real Madrid is a dream for any football but at Milan, he was averaging 40 games a season whereas this season, he’s been used mostly as an impact substitute.
It’s not every day that four of the top-six Premier League want to sign you so it’s very likely that Brahim Diaz could hand in a transfer request by the end of May.
