Kai Havertz to Chelsea

Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz is without a doubt one of the most talented young midfielders in Europe right now and the Bundesliga side have admitted that it will really difficult for them to hold onto the 20-year-old for one more season.

Havertz has two years left on his current deal at the club and right now Bayer are reluctant to sell him. But at the same time, the club’s sporting director Rudi Voller has hinted at the fact that the youngster could be heading to a new club.

He had said, as per talkSPORT: “I’m glad that we still held (on to Havertz) this year.

“We’ll see how it looks in summer. He has a contract until 2022 – these are, of course, the classic facts.

“There was already interest in the summer, but we told him that it would be good for him to stay with us for another year. And that was the right decision.”

Premier League clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City and even Arsenal are said to be interested in Kai Havertz and have been keeping tabs on the midfielder for a number of months.

But Chelsea legend Michael Ballack has now surprisingly come out to urge the youngster to snub all the interest and remain at Leverkusen next season as well.

“Players with his quality are in demand everywhere,” Ballack said. “But I think he’s in good hands in Leverkusen. The conditions there are perfect for top, young players and development.

“Bayer plays attractive football. Leverkusen also offers an environment where you can make mistakes without criticism. You should appreciate that. Of course, it would be important for Leverkusen to qualify for the Champions League.”

Will Kai Havertz remain in Germany next season?

With so many big names interested in signing Kai Havertz one would imagine it’s only a matter of time before the attacking midfielder moves out of Germany.

But as per some rumours, Bayer Leverkusen currently value the 20-year-old at around £80million which is a big problem owing to the current scenario.

Thanks to the lockdown and the temporary suspension of the leagues, a number of clubs have been financially hit meaning there’s no way some of them(Chelsea & Arsenal) will be able to spend so much money on one player.

And the ones who can still afford to splash out such an absurd amount of cash in the summer will most certainly think a million times before they choose to pay £80 odd million for a 20-year-old.

So despite all the interest from England, there’s a big chance Kai Havertz could go unsold during the upcoming summer transfer window.
