PSG take on Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday and everyone is asking the same question. Will Lionel Messi start vs Manchester City?

Messi suffered a knock to his left knee on his home debut earlier this month and he was facing a race against time to be fit for this key game. But now manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that the Argentine is fit enough to be named in the matchday squad.

Apart from Lionel Messi, Marco Verrratti has also returned to training and will feature in some capacity on Tuesday night.

The manager said in his press conference: “Marco has trained well in the last few days. We think he’ll be part of the squad. I don’t know yet if he can start, but it’s a possibility we’ll see him play.

“Leo is in the same position. He’s progressing very well, and I think he’ll be in the squad, but I don’t know if he’ll start. His adaptation? He’s the best player in the world, but he’s still a human like everyone else.

“He also needs to adapt to this new team, new culture and new country. He was at Barcelona for 20 years, everything is new here for him.

“With time, I have no doubt that everything will go well and we’re going to have real success together.”

Will Lionel Messi start against Manchester City?

The return of Lionel Messi is undoubtedly a huge boost for the PSG boss but Pochettino has refused to reveal all his cards from beforehand.

While the manager has declined to give any straightforward answers but the French media seems pretty confident that Lionel Messi will start against Manchester City.

The Ligue 1 does not pose too much of a challenge for PSG which is why we don’t see the manager keeping Lionel Messi on the bench for such a crucial Champions League encounter. So if the Argentine has had a couple of full training sessions, we expect to see his name on the starting line up on Tuesday.
