Odion Ighalo could return back to his parent club Shanghai Shenhua from Man United at the end of the 2019-20 season, as per Sky Sports.

The Nigerian has managed to catch the attention of all the right people during his short stint in England and recently there had been rumours of Man United trying to keep him at the club beyond the summer.

But as per Sky Sports, despite United being eager to offer the forward a permanent deal, Shanghai Shenhua are confident that Igahlo will report back to the club before the new Chinese Super League season kicks off.

The report claims: “Shanghai Shenhua expect Odion Ighalo to return from his loan spell at Manchester United in time for the start of the new Chinese Super League season, which is scheduled to begin in July.

“Manchester United are keen to extend Ighalo’s loan to cover the end of the Premier League season, the date of which remains unclear amid the spread of the disease.”

Will Man United try and hold onto Odion Ighalo?

A couple of weeks ago, there had been reports that Man United had offered a permanent deal to Ighalo but the Chinese side were swift to rubbish all these rumours.

But earlier this weekend, the forward had himself hinted that he wishes to remain in the Premier League if given the right opportunity.

Ighalo said, as reported by Express: “I would like to finish the season if it’s possible. I was in good form, good shape, scoring goals and now we’ve stopped for over a month. I’ve given it my best and hopefully, we’ll come back to play. The team had a good momentum before the pandemic started. At the moment I’m on loan and this will cut short my time at the club.

“The club, myself, every footballer is going through a lot because we can’t do what we love and what we know how to do best. We’re just thinking about that for now and to finish the season before we start thinking about the contract.”

There’s no doubt Odion Ighalo will accept a stay with Man United next season and if this disease had not happened, the Old Trafford outfit would have surely offered him the deal.

But now things have taken a radical turn and many people believe, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might refuse to keep the 30-year-old beyond the summer more so since he’s expected to bring in a new centre-forward for the 2020-21 season.
