Manchester United are going to try and sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace who also happens to be a target for Tottenham, as per Football Insider.

Marc Guehi joined Palace from Chelsea in 2021 for a fee of around €24 million and in these two years, the defender has not only become a regular for the England national team but he’s also caught the attention of some of the biggest clubs in England.

His current contract expires in 2026 but there’s a high probability that the centre-back will leave the Eagles during the January transfer window.

Lisandro Martinez missed the first half of the season due to an injury while Raphael Varane has fallen down the pecking order which is why Erik ten Hag is so desperate to bring in a new centre-back during the January transfer window.

Marc Guehi is a top talent but according to a report by The Daily Mail, Ange Postecoglou has also shown an interest in signing the Palace defender.

Spurs have just lost Micky van de Ven to a hamstring injury while Eric Dier is expected to leave at the end of the season so the Lilywhites are also likely to go after Guehi.

Tottenham started the season in fine form, sitting at the top of the table for several weeks but after matchweek 13, Spurs are just two points ahead of Manchester United. All the unexpected injuries have halted their momentum so the manager needs to be backed with proper reinforcements during the January window.

As per the rumours, Man United have made Marc Guehi their top priority while Tottenham are yet to make up their minds regarding the England international.

Guehi’s contract with the Eagles expires in 2026 so if Man United or Spurs wish to land the defender, they will have to shell out around £40-45 million. United won’t mind spending that in January but we seriously doubt if Daniel Levy will want to head in the same direction.

The Eagles will not want to lose one of their best players during the middle of the season but if their transfer demands are met, they won’t mind cashing in. Spurs, however, are not the favourites because Man United can offer a lot more to Marc Guehi.

At Old Trafford, the 23-year-old will get to play in the Champions League and once Varane and Evans leave during the summer then Guehi can get a lot more game time next season.
