Liverpool and Newcastle United are interested in this Chelsea misfit: Where will he end up in the summer?

Mason Mount Chelsea

Liverpool as well as Newcastle United are interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, if the Blues decide to sell him, claims the Daily Mail.

Mount’s current deal is due to expire in 2024 and Chelsea are desperately trying to make him agree to a new deal. The club have held multiple rounds of talks with the midfielder’s representative because they very well understand that Mason Mount is a world-class talent.

However, if Chelsea fail to make him agree to a new deal then they won’t wait too long and will cash in on him during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Liverpool have already been linked with the England international and according to the latest reports, the Magpies have also joined the bandwagon.

Liverpool or NUFC: Mason Mount eventually choose?

Mount is slowly falling down the pecking order at Chelsea and despite starting 20 league games this season, the midfielder has been dishing out very average performances. He’s scored three goals and provided only two assists in 23 Premier League appearances so far.

Yes, Boehly will do everything to try and convince Mason Mount to sign a new deal but if he refuses then the new owner won’t hesitate to sell him off. If the Blues can somehow make Joao Felix’s loan deal permanent then they won’t need Mount next season.

Also, the player might be holding out for a better wage structure so if Liverpool or Newcastle are ready to offer him a better deal then he won’t mind making the switch.

In theory, a player like him will any day choose a move to Liverpool over Newcastle but the Magpies have been improving really well under Eddie Howe. At St James’ Park, Mason Mount will not only be the star player in the team but thanks to their new owners, NUFC can afford to pay him a really big wage package.

In the end, if Liverpool manage to get into the top four they will have a genuine shot at signing the 24-year-old but if Newcastle United qualify for the Champions League plus they are willing to offer him a massive contract then the Magpies will have a genuine say in this transfer battle.
