Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made a formal offer to sign Memphis Depay from FC Barcelona.
Depay joined Barcelona in the summer of 2021 but the Netherlands international has visibly failed to make an impact at the club. To date, he has made only 27 appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals.
His time at the Camp Nou has been riddled with injuries and right now he has fallen down the pecking order which is one of the main reasons why Xavi is planning to let him move out at the end of this season.

Should Barcelona let Memphis Depay go?
At the start of the season, a player like Memphis Depay was really important to the side but his injuries have really hampered his time at the club.
Also, Xavi has brought in players like Traore, Aubameyang and Ferran Torres in January meaning Depay’s priority has fallen even further.
With the way Memphis Depay is playing right now, he is of no use to Barcelona so it would make sense that the club wants to cash in on him.
Barca signed the winger on a free transfer so by selling him they will be able to bag some much-needed funds which they can then use to make new signings in the summer.

Will a player like Depay be of any use to Tottenham?
Antonio Conte was visibly unhappy with the lack of spending in January so it will be a refreshing change for him to see Spurs moving for someone like Memphis Depay.
The 28-year-old had a stint with Manchester United which was really unsuccessful but the player has grown since those days and he had some prospering years with Lyon(2017-2021).
Son and Kane are the only two world-class forwards at Spurs right now so the addition of Depay will really help boost the team’s forward line. He might not be at his best with Barcelona but if he can remain fit then the winger can easily force a bond with Spurs’ fab duo next season.
