Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita picked up a thigh injury while playing against Barcelona in the Champions League earlier this month.

And initially, it was reported that the midfielder would be out for the rest of the season.

This was certainly a huge blow for Jurgen Klopp given that the Guinea international had been in sensational form during the past couple of months.

Naby Keita joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig last summer and after struggling to get into the first Xi for the first half of the season, he along with Fabinho had kind of people the first choice midfield partnership for Klopp during the second half of the campaign.

And his absence from the Champions League final would have meant that the Liverpool manager would have one less option in the middle of the pitch.

Now though, Guinea national team coach Paul Put has come out to claim that Naby Keita has been recovering at a rapid pace and might very well feature in the UCL final vs Spurs.

“He consulted his doctor in Switzerland, as I said at the beginning,” Put told Foot 224.

“He is in treatment with his doctor.

“He has started on the bike there [at Liverpool] and it is said that he will maybe in two weeks resume with the squad.

“It is even possible that he is in the squad for the Champions League final if what I have been told is true. We will see.

“We will wait and remain realistic. This is not the time to scream or panic. We have to wait and see how it goes.”

Given that both the Champions League finalists can name 12 substitutes on the bench means that even if Naby Keita is not 100 per cent fit, then also Klopp can risk him for the final.

The rapid recovery also means that Naby Keita is in line to feature for Guinea in the Africa Cup of Nations which kicks off next month.
