Newcastle United have been eyeing a move for Rangers centre-forward Alfredo Morelos for some time now but it looks like they aren’t alone in this race – as per reports.

Morelos has been linked with the Magpies for a number of months now and the side were expected to make a move for him at the end of the ongoing season. Now as per reports, not one but two Premier League clubs have joined the race to sign the Colombian international.

Leicester City and West Ham United are both keeping tabs on the player and are also expected to launch bids during the summer transfer window.

This means Newcastle United will have brace themselves for a fight if they wish to acquire the services of the 23-year-old which is one of the big reasons why they just might back out of this transfer.

Will Newcastle United back out of the deal?

If this was under normal circumstances, we would have been sure that the Magpies will fight it out with Leicester and West Ham in this transfer race.

But as things stand, the club are bracing themselves for a takeover by Saudi giants meaning they are expected to receive a massive influx of money in the coming few months. so in such a scenario, the club will most certainly choose to upgrade their transfer wishlist and will look to bring in some of the top players in European football.

Alfredo Morelos is without a doubt one a fine goal-scorer but Newcastle United will soon have the money to target players from the top five leagues in Europe.

While this might help out the likes of Leicester City and West Ham United but it’s certainly bad news for the Gers since more the interest, the more money they could have quoted for the Colombian.

Reports suggest Rangers want around £20 million for Alfredo Morelos which is not a very steep transfer fee as far as the Premier League teams are concerned. And now with Newcastle United possibly pulling out of this race, we doubt if the Gers can increase their asking rate any further.
