Goalkeeper Vaclav Hladky has decided to leave St Mirren and right now Rangers FC are one of the clubs being linked with a move for the 29-year-old, as per rumours.

Hladky joined St Mirren in January of 2019 from Czech Republic side Slovan Liberec and he is now a free agent after his contract with the Scottish club expired last month.

While English club Sunderland have shown an inclination towards signing him in the summer but the reports claim Hladky will prefer a move to Rangers FC.

And speaking about the shot-stopper, Alan Hutton has claimed that Steven Gerrard should go out and add him to his first-team squad next season.

Hutton told Football Insider: “I’m actually big admirer of Hladky, I think he’s done unbelievably well at St Mirren, any time I’ve seen them he’s been one of their standout players.

“If you look at the lower teams, the keeper is a massive part of what they do and how they get points up on the board. He’s been an unbelievable player for them for the last little while so it doesn’t surprise me Rangers have been sniffing around him.

“Especially a free agent, it ticks the box if they’re spending a lot of money on Hagi and they can get a player they need for the squad on a free, it’s the ideal situation for them. I think he’d be a great addition to the squad.”

Rangers FC have parted ways with both Wes Foderingham and Jak Alnwick meaning Steven Gerrard’s left with only Allan McGregor – a keeper who has experience under his belt.

And this has prompted many to believe that the Gers boss could try and lure in Hladky in the coming few months.

But, on the flip side, some experts believe Rangers FC will not want to put unnecessary pressure on their wage bills next season especially when they have 22-year-old Robby McCrorie amongst their ranks.
